The Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) is encouraging micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) islandwide to utilise the entity’s innovative suite of programmes and services to enhance their growth and digital readiness.
Of these, the Growth and Expansion of MSMEs through Innovation and Capacity-building (GEMINI) Programme emerges as a transformative initiative designed to support businesses striving to enhance their operational capacity and embrace digital transformation.
The JBDC’s Manager for Project Management and Research, Chantol Dormer, highlighted the GEMINI programme as a “game changer” for the MSME sector.
She explained that the initiative provides tailored training and resources aimed at strengthening business operations, while equipping enterprises to navigate a digital economy.
“Through GEMINI, MSMEs can access capacity-building support tailored to their unique needs. Additionally, participants may qualify for up to $800,000 in grant funding, provided by the Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ) through the JBDC,” Dormer added.
To participate in the GEMINI programme, MSMEs must meet specific eligibility criteria, including registering as a formal business entity, being operational for at least one to two years and maintaining accurate financial records.

The JBDC also offers a robust array of additional services, ranging from technical assistance and business consultations to hands-on support, to assist enterprises to thrive throughout the entrepreneurial journey.
“Regardless of the stage of the entrepreneur’s development, JBDC has a programme to provide the critical intervention needed for growth, We want to remind MSMEs that everything they need to thrive in the market can be found at the JBDC,” Dormer emphasised.
