PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: AUGUST 5, 2022

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Mr. Wayne Beecher, Business Consultant encouraged entrepreneurs at the Jamaica Business Development Corporation’s (JBDC) Virtual Biz Zone on Tuesday August 2, 2022 to create businesses that solve both local and global needs. In the two-part Entrepreneurial Mind-set series, Mr. Beecher tackled the topic: Think Like an Entrepreneur. Act Like an Entrepreneur helping Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) to understand the importance of mind-set in the success of their business ventures.

Mr. Beecher said, “Sometimes as entrepreneurs, we create business based on our own dreams and aspirations and not on the demand. It is often driven by more internal motivations and not so much by a need in the market. Continuing he said “What we should be doing as modern entrepreneurs is creating business that is bigger than ourselves, that can solve local or global challenges that create impact in the world.”

He went on to say, “We create global impact by finding our sweet spot in the market and this is found somewhere between our skillsets, those things that we are naturally gifted at, what we have a passion for, that is in response to an existing and quantifiable need. If you have skills, passion and can discern a need, then you will be able to attract all the resources that you need to your business.”

The webinar was geared toward addressing unhelpful mental patterns that entrepreneurs may have that inhibit the success of their journey. Mr. Beecher encouraged participants who doubt themselves to “Just begin the creative process and complete it. Do not quit. When you quit, it breaks your confidence. It is important to just set small targets and set your mind to completing it, even if it is not exactly as you planned. This will give you the confidence to take on the next step.”

In talking about unhelpful mind-sets entrepreneurs have, Mr. Beecher mentioned, “One of the greatest illusions that we have been conditioned to believe is that difficulties mean something is completely wrong, when in truth it is often a precursor to something good.” He encouraged participants to observe the cycle of good and bad, and that if entrepreneurs stick with the journey through difficulty, they will eventually see positive results.

Mr. Beecher explored the idea of mental principles that include the power of intention and the alignment of the mind, emotions, energy and action. He shared that, “The power of intention helps the entrepreneur to focus on exactly what they’ll be doing in business and helps them to create that reality.”

The Virtual Biz Zone continues with this two-part series on the Entrepreneurial Mind-set on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. It will be facilitated by Ms. Opal Levy from Sisters’ Ink who will explore ‘Goal Setting’ as an entrepreneur.

The JBDC Virtual Biz Zone webinars are geared toward stimulating entrepreneurs within the Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (MSME) sector.
