From make-up artists and cosmetologists to natural hair & skin care brands, everything beauty was up for grabs at the Healthy Hair & Beauty Expo (HHBE) held at the Jamaica Pegasus on Saturday October 7 & Sunday October 8, 2023.  The Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) made its presence felt at a booth which engaged approximately 150 entrepreneurs in the industry who expressed interest in the Agency’s services.

With heavy demand on local Jamaican made natural personal, hair and skin care products both locally and abroad, the JBDC is positioning Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) to benefit from these opportunities by providing Business Consultation Services, Product Development, Market Access, as well as access to high-quality incubator spaces including the Essential Oils Incubator and the Agro-Processing Incubator located in Kingston. Both incubators are designed to facilitate products for the global market.

The JBDC also used the event to promote its Things Jamaican™ brand which facilitates global market access for local producers of authentic Jamaican products, through three retail stores an e-commerce site www.thingsjamaicanshopping.com.

The Beauty and Personal Care industry has blossomed into a multi-million dollar generating industry.  According to Statista, revenues in the Beauty & Personal Care market amounted to US$213.00m in 2023, while the market is expected to grow annually by a compound annual growth rate of 2.41% between 2023-2028.
