Former Chief Executive Officer of Grace Kennedy Limited, the Hon. Douglas Orane, CD, JP is the next Guest Speaker for the Jamaica Business Development Corporation’s (JBDC) Lunch & Learn event scheduled for Wednesday, October 30, at the Knutsford Court Hotel.

Mr. Orane will speak under the theme ‘Effective Management of Businesses within the MSME Sector’.

His address follows the tradition of outstanding local Business Executives and established Entrepreneurs who have shared their business and entrepreneurial experiences with new and emerging entrepreneurs who have participated in this event.

Among the Entrepreneurs who have presented at the event are; DeWeight Peters – Managing Director of Saint International, Donna Duncan-Scott – Group Executive Director at JMMB, Chris Dehring – Director & CEO of Ready TV, Thalia Lyn – Philanthropist and CEO of Island Grill and more recently, Keith Duncan – CEO of the JMMB Group.

Mr. Orane brings significant business acumen to the event having held several senior leadership positions at one of Jamaica’s largest, leading brands – Grace Kennedy. He joined the company in 1981 as a Corporate Planner and moved through the ranks to his appointment as Chief Executive Officer in 1995. In 1998 he was appointed to Chairman of the Board of Directors and held the position of Chairman and CEO until his retirement in 2011.

Between 2011 and 2018, he served as Executive Chairman and Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Grace Kennedy. Now retired, he has continued in the philanthropic footsteps of previous Grace Kennedy Chairmen by lending active support to the company’s programmes for the disadvantaged in general and for young people in particular.

Lunch & Learn is an initiative of the JBDC’s Business Advisory Services Unit that provides an opportunity for growth-stage entrepreneurs to interact with established entrepreneurs of like interests and inclinations
