Family is at the heart of many successful businesses. Family is built on shared dreams, hard work, and a legacy passed down through generations. On the heels of Father’s Day, Entrepreneur Weekly shines the spotlight on a father-daughter duo, Stanford and Lacey-Ann Bartley, whose shared vision and values have carved out a space of excellence in Jamaican craftsmanship. Together, they lead Bartley’s All in Wood.
The story of Bartley’s All in Wood began decades ago, when a 15-year-old Stanford Bartley first picked up a chisel under the guidance of Brother D, a local cabinetmaker in Mandeville. What started as an apprenticeship grew into a lifelong passion. Alongside his friend, Stanford Bartley honed his craft in a small workshop on church grounds, shaping wood into timeless furniture and décor.
“My father’s vision was to create timeless, high-quality Jamaican pieces that celebrate the beauty of our local wood and culture,” says Lacey-Ann, Managing Director.
Today, Bartley’s All in Wood is a celebrated name, known for elegant home furnishings, bespoke gifts, and fine joinery, earning recognition both in Jamaica and abroad.
Strength in Unity
What makes Bartley’s All in Wood special isn’t just the craftsmanship, it’s the family behind it. Our collaboration shows how traditional craftsmanship and modern business strategy can coexist to expand impact. We push and support each other in a way that strengthens both the business and our bond.
“My father brings decades of craftsmanship and an unmatched knowledge of wood and design. My mother, as Quality Manager, brings keen attention to detail and ensures that every product reflects our high standards. My partner, with his industrial engineering background, strengthens our production systems and workflow efficiency,” Lacey-Ann explained.
Continuing, she said, “I bring strategic leadership, marketing insight, and a strong drive for brand development and growth. My uncle contributes hands-on support in building pieces and sourcing materials when needed. Together, we form a well-integrated team rooted in tradition and equipped for innovation.”
Celebrating Daddy Bartley
“This Father’s Day carries deep meaning. It’s a chance to celebrate the man whose vision, hands, and heart built the foundation we stand on today. His work ethic, wisdom, and quiet leadership continue to shape who we are as a family and a business. Every handcrafted piece is a tribute to his legacy and love. Integrity, discipline, humility, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, these are the values my father has passed down,” she said.
For Lacey-Ann, working alongside her father has been a masterclass in craft, character, and leadership.
“My father lives by the motto: ‘Whatever your hands find to do, do it well.’ That philosophy shapes everything we do, from how we treat our team to the precision in our work,” she added.
His legacy? Integrity, discipline, and an unshakable commitment to excellence, resonate in every piece bearing the Bartley name.
“Working as a family has cultivated a culture rooted in trust, shared purpose, and long-term vision. Every decision is made with legacy in mind, preserving tradition while evolving with the times. Family meals often turn into planning sessions, and business ideas sometimes flow during downtime. Still, we intentionally make time to just be a family. Our shared faith and mutual respect help us maintain balance. We understand when to press pause and nurture our relationships beyond work,” Lacey-Ann recalled.
The Future
Like many businesses, Bartley’s faced its toughest challenge during COVID-19, when tourism, a key market, came to a halt. But as a team, they adapted.
“We reinvented ourselves,” says Lacey-Ann. “We expanded into finish carpentry for construction, repurposed sawdust into by-products, and strengthened our digital presence. Challenges don’t break us; they push us to innovate.”
“In five to ten years, we see Bartley’s All In Wood as a recognised leader in the sustainable luxury design industry, both locally and internationally.
“We plan to expand our operations, grow our presence in hospitality and corporate gifting, and open a flagship location that includes a showroom, cultural gallery, working studio, orchard, and artisan training hub. Our long-term vision is to empower a new generation of Jamaican artisans and manufacturers through mentorship, employment, and education,” she said.
