Patrons at Expo Jamaica, held at the National Indoor Sports Centre and the National Arena in St Andrew from last Thursday to yesterday, were exposed to numerous product offerings from large companies to small-scale entrepreneurs.

During an exploration of the floor, visitors to the expo might have seen a young woman at the De la Enzie Essentials booth massaging someone’s ankle, knee or elbow with a smile on her face, true to the company’s motto of ‘Superior service, personalised attention’.

She is Brittania Mitchell, sales representative, and she was rubbing these areas with cannabis essential oil to help relieve their pain. It is a fixed oil called Pain Out, and consists of 100 per cent natural oil. It is a legal product, as the company has received the approval of the Ministry of Health and Wellness, which has stipulated the amount of the substance that might be used in the product, according to Mitchell.

“Pain Out was founded from PhD research. The main ingredient is cannabis. Our founder Dr Delahaye tried it, and it has worked on many people for arthritis, back pain, joint pain. We have even had customers today where we have massaged the neck, the back, and they have come back and say, ‘I have to buy this product, I really have to buy it’,” Mitchell told The Gleaner.

General Manager Samantha Douglas said Pain Out is also effective for menstrual cramps, and the feedback is “great”.

“We are even currently in Canada … Pain Out is doing well,” she shared, adding that it is supported by the Development Bank of Jamaica. “It’s good, especially today,” she said, when asked about how things were going.

This oil is one of many of De la Enzie Essentials’ products made of natural ingredients. The range of essential oils include sandalwood, lemongrass, patchouli, grapefruit, peppermint, tea tree, eucalyptus, myrrh, rosemary, pimento leaves, hyssop, cinnamon, lemon, fennel, among others.

There are also coconut, avocado and neem oils. The soaps include coffee, lemongrass, neem, tea tree, charcoal, nutmeg, aloe vera, and cerasee and ginger. Nutmeg, shea and cocoa butters are also in the mix.

Mitchell said the products are “pure” and natural, as no artificial scent is added to the ingredients. And, they are all made in Jamaica.

“De la Enzie Essentials Limited is a natural products manufacturing company. We use medicinal herbs to manufacture our herbal powders, herbal mixtures, essential oils, fixed/carrier oils, herbal soaps, pain-relieving products, and body/massage oils and pure butters,” Dr Chenielle Delahaye-McKenzie, founder and CEO of De la Enzie Essentials, says on the company’s website.

“We started with the simple idea of bringing the best research-based medicinal herbs and herbal extracts from us to you, to prevent, treat and heal all your common illnesses. From our labs to your homes, we put lots of love and careful thought into all we do. We hope you enjoy all we have to offer, and share the experience with others.”
