For Shauna Douglas, founder of Siani Creates, feel good is the centre of everything she makes. Her brand is built on a simple but powerful idea, taking the kind of herbal knowledge many Jamaicans grew up around and transforming it into modern personal care products.

“You know, granny would just know that a bush of this, makes that… but make it into things of nowadays,” she said.

It is that balance between tradition and modern living that defines Siani Creates.  The business took shape during COVID-19, but the foundation had been forming long before that.

Shauna had always been curious about herbal remedies and how the body responds to natural ingredients. After attending a workshop and diving deeper into research, she began to see the possibilities, not just in making products, but in making them practical.

That shift in thinking led to her first product: the cuticle oil pen.

“I just feel more put together when my nails are done,” she said.

It was a small idea, but one that reflected everyday life, something easy to carry, easy to use, and effective.

The Things Women Love

From that first product, Siani Creates grew into a line of items centred around self-care.  Body and massage oils. Lip glosses. Bath salt soaks.

Each product is designed with intention, not just to nourish the skin, but to fit naturally into a woman’s routine. There is no overcomplication. No heavy science being pushed to the forefront.

Instead, the focus is on how the product feels, how it smells, how it absorbs, how it becomes part of a moment. And that is where the connection happens.

Because for many women, self-care is about feeling grounded, refreshed, and a little more like yourself again.  For Shauna, the most rewarding part of the business is not just creating the products, but seeing how people respond to them.

“I try to do more craft shows… just to have that interaction and actually see people’s eyes light up when they try one of the products,” she said.

Building with Intention

As the business grew, Shauna made a deliberate decision to treat it as more than a hobby.

“Partnering with the Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) was a must,” she said.

With that support, she focused on putting the right systems in place, ensuring that the business could grow, adapt and respond to opportunities as they came.

“They [JBDC] said that I needed to put in place structures such that the business is poised for any growth opportunity that comes along. So I may have overloaded some of the structures in the beginning, the platform that I use to take orders, the platform for the accounting.”

And that combination, creativity and structure, is what allows businesses like Siani Creates to move forward.
