“Inside the Entrepreneurial Mind: From Ideas to Reality”

 

small-business-expo-2012-smlFor the fifth consecutive year, the Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) will embark on its annual campaign to provide new information, networking prospects and business creation and development opportunities for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises with yet another staging of the Annual Small Business Exposition 2012.

 

Under the theme: ‘Inside the Entrepreneurial Mind: From Ideas to Reality’, the Corporation in addition to recognizing the extraordinary entrepreneurial talent and contributions of local entrepreneurs, will also seek to unearth, expose and promote the skills and abilities of emerging and prospective entrepreneurs.

 

 

According to Chief Executive Officer of the JBDC, Valerie Veira, the 2012 event will be the turning point for entrepreneurship in Jamaica.  “This year, we are highlighting innovators and showcasing some of the best ideas of our micro and small business people.  We will also use the event as a platform to showcase some of the practical solutions that JBDC and our partners are offering to deal with the challenges which our entrepreneurs face.”

 

One of the highlights of the expo will be an exhibition of the top three innovations by students who participated in the Jamaica Business Lab’s I3 High School Entrepreneurship Competition.  The contest which was also sponsored by JBDC

 

 

These practical solutions will include a mix of both the traditional and non-traditional business support.  Already over twenty-five exhibitors including financial institutions, Advertising and Media Support Companies, Business Development and Government institutions have confirmed their participation.

 

As is customary, the event will feature knowledgeable speakers on a range of issues associated with micro and small business creation and development.  JBDC, along with the over thirty anticipated exhibitors will showcase the suite of business development services which include business, financial, technical and marketing services.

 

As part of its display, JBDC will present a Business Clinic and a Design Clinic.  The Business Clinic will feature a number of critical initial services which prospective entrepreneurs need to obtain in order to start their businesses, while existing businesses will be able to secure diagnostic information to make their business operations more efficient.

 

The Design Clinic on the other hand will focus on providing design services to existing businesses.  These include Business cards, Flyers, brochures, product labels and other promotional material.
